Poetry

I think the poetry unit was fun yet hard. It was hard to get all the requirements in the poems and I couldn't really find any words that rhymed. I'm already naturally so bad at rhyming so this unit was pretty hard for me.  It was fun though, we got the chance to write about whatever we wanted. I really enjoyed hearing other people's poems and some of them even made me tear up. I think that I did pretty good saying my poem and I also got good feedback. I would like to hear more poems from other people. I think that poems are really deep especially hearing it out loud instead of just reading it, because when you're reading you can't really tell what tone the writer intended it to be. Overall, this unit was really fun.

Stream of consciousness poem

She loves winter and she loves how it gets cold and you just have to wear layers you don't have to do much unlike summer where you can't really do anything to get cold but winter is her favorite season and she loves the way it feels being under layers and layers of blankets and wearing warm hoodies and fuzzy socks and she likes christmas and getting presents for her friends and families and making them happy she loves the way christmas makes her family close and on christmas eve, everyone is talking, playing games, and having fun she loves the way she sees everyone in her family that she doesn't see a lot and winter is just a wonderful season and she wishes that winter stays forever.

Elegy

He left when she was two
She grew up without a father figure
She lost a friend
A playmate
Half of her

She was left with a mother
Who did everything for her
Her mom was her superwoman
She knows how hard it is
Taking care of two kids on your own

She worked so hard to keep a roof on their heads
and food in their mouths
Working two jobs
Double shifts so they can buy necessities

People ask her about her father
She doesn't know what to respond
So she whispers "he left"

It's been seven years
and now he wants in...

After all this time
Why now?
She wonders

He left like nothing
He found a new family
She just didn't get it
Why didn't he leave?

She just wanted an explanation
Were they not good enough for him?
And now he wants to be in her life again
But it's too late
Because in her eyes, he's dead

Ode to Laptop

Always
waiting for me
when I come
home

Letting me
talk to people
online

Always there
for me when
I need it

Never letting
 me get bored
I can't live
without it

Making me laugh
like there is
no tomorrow
while watching videos

It's bottom burns
like the sun
And smooth
like a baby's butt

Ballad

Oh, how can she be so foolish?
She thought she actually had a chance
He was the apple of her eye
The light of her life
Oh, how can she be so foolish?
Whenever she was alone
She could only think about him
She could feel his hands holding hers
She could taste his sweet lips pressed against hers
She could see his flaws and all
But that didn't matter
She could hear him saying her name softly
Giving her chills down her spine
And last but not least
She could smell him
That sweet smell of his
But then she woke up
Oh, how can she be so foolish?
Did she really think that she could get him?
Now she has a broken heart
But if she didn't get her hopes so high
She wouldn't be in this position
Oh, how can she be so foolish?

Limerick

There once was a boy named Mark
He loved going to the park
He had a dog named Lucky
Whose favorite toy was a rubber ducky
He also had a funny bark

Free Verse

I didn't intend on it
It wasn't my fault
I just wanted to live life
To go with the flow
Little did I know
I fell instantly for him
Why didn’t I see the signs
It was right in front of me
Yet I can't find the courage
The courage to tell
That the person he’s been wanting to know

Is actually him...
